The ISA Club Development Matrix

The ISA Club Development Matrix is designed to help a sailing club analyse their Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats and focus on how to strengthen the weaknesses, turn the threats in to opportunities and grow membership numbers and satisfaction.

Each club can tease from the table below an area that they may need assistance in developing and the Regional Development Officers are available to work with a club and help focus on the clubs individual needs.

There are four fundamental ways to approach the Matrix.

1  A club can undertake a complete Development Plan with the assistance of their RDO, which involves an interactive brain storming session with members, surveys of opinion, analysis of every criteria and operation, finalising on the creation of a complete development plan for the club to follow.

2 A club can analyse their operation horizontally where relevant to them - RacingCruisingYouthTrainingInclusivityMembership Satisfaction & Development and / or Facilities. Or focus on the vertically on their over Governance or Communications. Each Club may also add their own aspect such as International Event / Diversification Plan.
3 Or do what we call "Pick n Mix", choose an operation and specific criteria that needs developing; e.g. Inclusivity x Training and Performance or Facilities x Communication.

4 Or you can just use it for inspiration.
